Montes de Málaga – The Ride Part 2 of 2

1 Comment 14 December 2010

Oh the frustration of a biker: a perfectly fine inner tube but no pump to inflate it with. But hey, this is Spain, one of the 3 countries hosting a Tour every year and etc. The prologue (not time-trial) can be found here. Passerby #1, a 35 year old guy walking around with his girlfriend, […]

Montes de Málaga – The Ride Part 1 of 2

No Comments 13 December 2010

So after 5 days of bike rental hunting (see my previous post) my quest came to an end and I experienced the saddle feeling again. 5 kilometers east of Malaga, after a nice morning walk next to the Mediterranean, I was welcomed at the Recyclo Bike Shop by one of the owners and a true […]

Winter riding in Atlanta – The Airport ride [video]

6 Comments 12 December 2010

When one thinks of Atlanta, Georgia, you think of Ted Turner the bison lover, Coca-Cola and I think of that one guy who tried selling me a gold chain right in front of the exhibition center. I know we’ve been griping about the snow here, and there sure are ridiculous amounts of it here, but […]

Andalucia and the quest for a rental bike

2 Comments 11 December 2010

It’s minus 12C in Helsinki and you’re boarding a flight to Sevilla with the essential riding kit in your bag and a grin on your face. Nice. Spain hosts one of the 3 Grand cycling tours every year and is a country full of biking culture. Visits to Granada, Sevilla and Malaga, the last two […]

Friday video: Framed – Andi Wittmann & Felix Urbauer

1 Comment 10 December 2010

You’ve probably (hopefully) seen our Friday videos already and we do try to have them as good as possible. Before, most of the videos have been about the riders or the talent, but this one is in my opinion more about the actual filmography than the riding. And the riding is damn good. That’s just […]

Learn Finnish: Pikkujoulut

No Comments 09 December 2010

When you see a photo like that, you might not have any idea about what’s going on. When a Finn sees a photo like this, he’ll immediately think of a Pikkujoulu party and the presentation of “Tiernapojat” which is the classic bible story of the three wise men. Pikkujoulu, or “little Christmas” is a party […]

2011 – Cyclocross or 29er?

3 Comments 08 December 2010

If you were buying bike in the last two years, almost everybody who knew anything about bikes would have offered you a cyclocross bicycle – to a point that it became a joke in the forums. Cyclocross bikes became the be all, end all solution for bike buyers – especially for commuters. It did it […]

Man vs. Machine – Atherton vs. Knight

No Comments 07 December 2010

Anybody who has read our blog previously knows about Maarten’s man-crush on the Atherton brothers and we have mentioned them earlier, such as in the Red Bull rampage post. They are great riders and good-looking people and their sponsor Red Bull is maximizing their popularity by setting up a race – Between man and machine, […]

Artistic cycling – Amazing stuff

No Comments 06 December 2010

It’s the 93rd independence day here in Finland today and during the night it snowed another 20 centimeters (8 inches). That means less cycling and more cleaning out the yard and driveway. Or just staying in and watching bike videos of other people riding in the snow. Anyway, there are these videos I’ve seen during […]

December wins November

No Comments 05 December 2010

Finally that dreadful November has given up and we’re steamrolling towards Christmas. I also got my steel-commutin’ Surly to my local bike shop to get the frame and wheels straightened and while at it, get the winter tires changed as well. The riding weather is pretty good here now, it’s not too cold and it’s […]

About Comingthru

Coming Thru (or Coming Through - as that URL was taken) is a daily updated bike magazine - a collection of writings and links that relate to biking in its every form. The idea started from when Maarten met Markus decided to finally start collecting the things we like about bikes and talk about our everyday adventures in dodging moving objects at high speeds. The site is run by a collage of cyclists, most notably by Canadian Johanna MacDonald, Belgian Maarten Patteeuw and Finnish Markus Sandelin.

It all started in the spring of 2010, after a record breaking snowy winter when Markus bought a house 25 kilometers from the office and decided to handle the commuting with a bicycle. It turned out the bike wasn’t up to standards for that kind of stress and the first weeks were more tragicomic than glorious. Thus the idea began to brew to actually document this journey.
