November sucks: Frozen

No Comments 30 November 2010

This month has been quite dreary in terms of cycling. First it was too dark, then I broke my bike because it was too slippery, now it got too cold to even take my bike to the repair shop. Why, you ask? Because the car won’t start. I’m really starting to think the gods would […]

iPhone + Hipsters + Games = Hipster City Cycle

The dudes at Bikeridr brought this game to our attention and we just have to show this you, up-and-coming game for the iOS devices, so that would be your Apple branded iPhones, iPads and iPod touches. There have been several times when I’ve had a drink break at a café, drinking my soy latte in […]

Friday Video: Cycle Oregon – The Rapha way

No Comments 26 November 2010

Somehow we feel that today you have more time to check out the traditional Friday video. So grab another coffee and if you feel peer pressure: Pretend you are cleaning your (unplugged) keyboard or just reserve a meeting room for yourself for the coming 20 minutes. As a mountain biker I prefer the forest and […]

Blizzards, bike shops and photos

1 Comment 25 November 2010

Remember when I said a few days ago that it feels like living on planet Hoth? We’ve had a blizzard here today in Helsinki, something around 10-15 cm (4-6 inches) of snow in one day and I still saw cyclists plowing through the snow. Sadly, my local bike shop mechanic, where I was planting to […]

If you have been following us in the last months, you’ve seen us riding up and down, roads and forests but with our last trip to test drive the new Merida models, I really found the spark to do some proper off-road riding again. It really doesn’t help that the web is full of awesome […]

We posted our first post on June 27th this year, and during that week we got a massive 45 visits to our seven posts. That was cool. We didn’t have any expectations (.. and we still don’t) about writing this lovely hobby of ours, but things have been going up. There have been clear things […]

Winter commuting: Bike light buying guide

6 Comments 22 November 2010

This is the time when all bike blogs and other media outlets are telling everyone to wear reflectors, use lights and really make themselves visible. The problem is that we really don’t know whether we are visible or not, because we are always in the center of the action. The other big question is the […]

Dodging potholes in Bolivia [MTB]

2 Comments 21 November 2010

Saturdays are brilliant for scouring the bike forums for awesome stuff other people have found, and the last weekend gave us a lot of brilliant videos and articles for enjoying. This one seems like a normal dirt riding mountain bike video, situated in Bolivia. You will notice something different when at 0:09 (that’s nine seconds […]

About Comingthru

Coming Thru (or Coming Through - as that URL was taken) is a daily updated bike magazine - a collection of writings and links that relate to biking in its every form. The idea started from when Maarten met Markus decided to finally start collecting the things we like about bikes and talk about our everyday adventures in dodging moving objects at high speeds. The site is run by a collage of cyclists, most notably by Canadian Johanna MacDonald, Belgian Maarten Patteeuw and Finnish Markus Sandelin.

It all started in the spring of 2010, after a record breaking snowy winter when Markus bought a house 25 kilometers from the office and decided to handle the commuting with a bicycle. It turned out the bike wasn’t up to standards for that kind of stress and the first weeks were more tragicomic than glorious. Thus the idea began to brew to actually document this journey.
