Cyclocross, freezing cold and away we go!

It’s been darn cold here the last few days, this morning the temperature had actually gone below zero and that naturally means that the next time I go riding, I’ll have to have studded wheels.

As you might remember, last Sunday on the 10/10/10 the Finnish championships of cyclocross were being competed in and Jukka Peltonen from Squadra Azzurra Ciclista (that name guarantees you never being found in Google) took a bunch of photos from the event. Take a look of them from here. My goal was to be there, 100%, nothing could stop me. Until my class reunion kept on going and I left the after party at 5 in the morning. Yeah, didn’t make it.

My shoulder is still acting up. Ironically it’s better when riding now than off the bike, but the doctor told me to rest it for two more weeks. The Bikerly Effect is strong in this one, at the moment. Friday we’re in for a treat with our bicycle factory tour, yum yum.

I can relate to the bikerly effect, having the flu past coupla days. Speedy recovery friend. Can’t wait for your winter adventures.

  • 31 degrees again here in Sacramento today. Picnics no problem, but our cyclocross races are a little boring without the wet and cold. Good luck with your shoulder injury. I remember not sleeping on the dislocated shoulder side for a few months. Time will heal. In the meantime we’ll all enjoy your posts!

  • Should’ve been there. Someone (Pouta) did a backflip with a cc bike.
    Seriously, he did!

  • They started today, below zero and I still managed to overdress. At least I’m riding again! :)

  • Thanks! You’re right that you need some mud to have the complete CC experience :)

  • Sheesh! The things people manage to do. He actually did it a few times and landed it perfectly every time.

About Comingthru

Coming Thru (or Coming Through - as that URL was taken) is a daily updated bike magazine - a collection of writings and links that relate to biking in its every form. The idea started from when Maarten met Markus decided to finally start collecting the things we like about bikes and talk about our everyday adventures in dodging moving objects at high speeds. The site is run by a collage of cyclists, most notably by Canadian Johanna MacDonald, Belgian Maarten Patteeuw and Finnish Markus Sandelin.

It all started in the spring of 2010, after a record breaking snowy winter when Markus bought a house 25 kilometers from the office and decided to handle the commuting with a bicycle. It turned out the bike wasn’t up to standards for that kind of stress and the first weeks were more tragicomic than glorious. Thus the idea began to brew to actually document this journey.
